Every day in the $100 Trillion global Bond market*, investors seek safe, risk-adjusted bonds offering the best yield. The only global investment grade (AAA) opportunities are US Treasuries and Medium-Term Notes (“MTN”) issued by Top European banks.
However, global DEMAND for Triple A (AAA) rated investments far exceeds the available SUPPLY.
Large money center banks (HSBC, Barclays, Citi, etc.) are the global gatekeepers, distributors and market makers for these notes. Due to the critical role they play, these banks are highly regulated and their “liquidity” closely monitored to prevent endangering global economic activity. They report daily capital positions resulting from their lending activities and cash deposit obligations.
This liquidity balancing act is further complicated by the bank’s capital raise activities through their Managed Buy-Sell Trade Platform (“Platform”) transactions.
